Recommended Weight Distribution System for 16,000 lb Equipment Trailer

Question:

I have a 2016 Ford F350 single rear wheel diesel. I am looking to purchase an equipment trailer with a 16,000# GVW and it appears that I need a hitch with weight distribution to be legal. Is there a system available with a pintle hitch or what are my options? I have not purchased the trailer yet, but I believe the beam is 8.

For your 2016 Ford F-350 Diesel, I recommend removing your factory hitch and installing the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver # TLF1002-30. This is a confirmed fit for your truck and really the only way to get your weight distribution compatible with that trailer size at the bumper.

Then you will use the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution System # TLWD1000 with Adjustable Shank XL for TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution # TLM9011 or # TLM9010 depending on the drop needed for level transport. You will also need hitch ball # C40085. This system is rated for total tongue weight between 1,500 lbs and 3,000 lbs. The total tongue weight is the loaded tongue weight of the trailer (typically 10-15% of the trailer) as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your F-350.

To help your truck rear suspension, you may also consider using a suspension enhancement system like the Timbren Rear Springs # TFR350SDF. I've attached a couple articles to assist further.
