How to Create a Better Ground for a Clearance Light on a Trailer  

Question:

All of my clearance side marker lights work except for one I took it apart its a one wire setup where the ground is made when bracket touches surface of trailer I took it out the screws are loose therefore not real tight I move the whole bracket light wants to flicker on how can I make it better ground to that one only

Since you have already determined that it is a ground issue (which is almost always the problem) I would try sanding down the area you are installing the clearance light on.

A good ground will have a solid connection to a clean, bare metal surface. If the screws are loose (as you found) or the metal has some paint or debris on it there could be some issues.

If that doesn't work you can also try using a ring terminal like part # DW05737-1 and some 16 Gauge Wire # 16-1-1 to create a better ground.
