Recommended Roof Rack for A.R.E. Truck Cap with Factory Tracks

Hey I have a ARE cap for my 2015 ram 2500 truck and it has some gutter rails on top. I was wanting to add a rack on top for kayaks, ladders and such. Does it tie into the gutter system or Do I need to drill holes?

If the A.R.E. cap on your Ram 2500 features the factory tracks, we do indeed have a roof rack system available that will attach directly to them without the need to drill any holes into the cap.

You will need 4 of the Yakima Control Towers # Y8890027 and 2 sets of the Yakima Landing Pad 1 # Y00221. The Landing Pads are what will attach to the tracks on the cap and provide a mounting point for the Control Towers.

You can then choose what size Yakima round crossbars will work best for your application. For 58 inch bars you can use # Y00409, for 66 inch bars use # Y00410, and for 78 inch bars use # Y00411.

This will give you a complete roof rack system that will work perfectly for your kayaks, ladders, or any other cargo you need to secure. For a kayak carrier that will work nicely with this system, I recommend taking a look at the Yakima JayLow # Y04073. These J-style cradles will let you transport up to 2 kayaks and include tie-down straps to secure them into place. For additional tie-downs you can use # Y04031.
