Recommended Trailer Hitch to Use with Bike Rack on 2012 Toyota Prius

Question:

Im looking at the Curt 11276 for a 2012 Prius. I read that the receiver has no backing so that you can clean it out easily. Does this mean that the receiver is unobstructed throughout? I am wanting to install a Yakima Hold Up - 2 bike rack 1-1/4inch of course and know that there is issues with the Draw-tite for this vehicle and hitch combination and want to be assured that the depth is enough on the Curt to allow the holes to line up for the hitch pin. Thank you for your advice.

The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11276 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2012 Toyota Prius. I believe you are referring to the weld-stop that is present on many Draw-Tite Class I hitches that prevent Class II bike racks or other accessories from sliding all the way into the receiver. This particular feature is not present on Curt hitches, so will not have any issues using your Yakima 1-1/4 inch bike rack with the Curt hitch installed.

Just note that Curt does require that a stabilizing strap like # 18050 be used for any non-trailer loads like your bike rack. I have attached a short video demonstration on this product just so you can see how it is used.

This Class I hitch will use existing holes in your Prius' frame for a no-drill installation. It features a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening and a 200 tongue weight capacity. I have attached an installation video on your 2012 Prius that you can use for reference.
