Curt 18110 compared to 18140

Question:

I am purchasing a Curt 11468 3 1.25in recvr hitch for use on a 2007 Prius. We are also planning to get a cargo carrier to go with it. We are looking very seriously at your 18110 and 18145 carriers. There are some clear visual differences, but it is difficult to tell what the impact of those differences are. Can you please describe the differences? Can you also tell me if either unit comes with the adaptor for a 2in recvr hitch? The descriptions of the 2 products appear to be identical except for the weight. The product picture for 18110 appears to show/include the adaptor. Thanks

First lets talk about a hitch for your 2007 Toyota Prius, I would recommend the Draw Tite hitch part # 24808. The reason for this is that Curt recommends you use a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 when you use a non-supported load on the hitch like a cargo carrier. Draw Tite doesn't have that requirement so I think you would be happier with the # 24808.

Now the differences between the Curt Cargo Carriers part # C18110 and the # C18145 are pretty substantial. I personally like the # C18110 better because it has a mesh floor instead of the bars that run across the floor, it has a shank with a rise in it for better ground clearance, and its slightly bigger and 20 inches by 48 inches instead of 17 inches by 46 inches like the # C18145.

The only real advantage I see to the # C18145 is that it has higher side rails. Both of these hitches will fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch and a 2 inch hitch.
