Why Would Trailer Hitch Install Hardware Seem Too Large to Fit Vehicle
Question:
We installed the Curt trailer hitch on our 2010 Ford Flex. Fits perfect but the bolts that came with it were to big we had to down a bolt size, is that common or is that yr of vehicle different from others? Just curious, thanks.

The problem you are experiencing is pretty common for vehicles that have seen a couple winters. What happens is the weld nuts get a bit of corrosion in them and that prevents the bolts from being able to thread. This makes it seem like the nuts are too small. I checked your order notes and you're up north where the winters are pretty harsh too so that makes this even more likely.
What you'll need to do it clean the weld nuts out so that you can thread the included bolts.
I have included a few links on hitch installation tips, cleaning weld nuts, and a video on cleaning weld nuts for you.
