Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carrier - What Size Is The Main Bolt For The Shank?

Question:

Looking thru the pictures of this carrier, it appears the main bolt that is used for the shank is quite large. Do you know what size socket i would need to assemble this? what is the torque? Thanks

That is a keen observation and a good question. I actually had the chance to assist with assembly of one of the Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carriers # FHG99ZR not too long ago. The main bolt for the shank is indeed quite large, so large in fact that we were not able to locate an appropriately sized socket. The largest socket we had was a 3/4" and it was too small. We ended up using a pair or adjustable crescent wrenches to tighten the nut. When measured with a tape measure, the head of the bolt appeared to be 1".

There is no torque rating for this bolt, as it uses a lock nut. We were able to get it plenty tight by hand.
