Gen Y 325 GH 002 and the Curt E9 difference. Trying to figure out if the 2 1/2” outside Square Dimension of the Gen Y vs the Curt is due to wall thickness or clearance! My question is what the wall thickness of Gen Y and the Curt when checked with dial calipers? Thank You

Both the Gen-Y # 325-GH-002 and Curt # E-9 have the same 2" inner dimensions for the receiver, so the variance is just a slight difference in thickness. The Gen-Y is slightly thicker at 7/16".

Besides the dimensions, 2 1/2 versus 2 9/16, what are the differences between the E-9 and the 325-GH-002? I am going to weld a replacement on my trailer hitch because the pin hole has become elongated. Want to get the strongest one.

Other than the tube outer dimensions the only real difference is that the Curt # E-9 is about a 1/2" longer overall. This might help with better bumper clearance so I recommend going this route. I can't really compare strength/capacity because Curt doesn't actually list a weight capacity for its receiver. This is simply because the limiting factor is going to be whatever you're welding it to. The receiver itself can handle whatever weight the existing hitch crosstube and vehicle can support.
