How Does The Brake On the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch w/ Automatic Brake # DL15761 Operate?
Question:
I don’t quite understand the operation of this break winch? It seems like the handle wants to unscrew as I’m letting out on the cable??

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch w/ Automatic Brake # DL15761 has a nut on the crank handle shaft that prevents it from coming off the winch. As you turn the handle in reverse it will look like the handle is moving away from the main body of the winch as it is releasing tension on the pressure plate of the brake. The spring between the nut and the handle maintains pressure for the handle against the pressure plate when you are not turning the handle.
