How is this latch fastened to panel so it doesn’t fall out?

There is an indention in the bracket over the latch on the "Junior" Non-Locking Steel Flush Door Latch # N1980 which keeps it from falling out. I have pointed this out in the attached photo.

I went out into our warehouse to measure the "Junior" Non-Locking Steel Flush Door Latch #N1980 and found that overall it is 4-1/2 inches long, 3-3/4 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches deep.

Unfortunately, there's not a stainless, non-locking version of this latch. However, there's a non-locking version of the "Junior" latch paddle available in steel as part #N1980.

To install the handle will require you to drill holes along the lip of the door latch. I went out to our warehouse to get the dimension you are looking for and found that when the latch is pulled up it will stick up 1 inch above the housing.
