Question:

How far out does the latch come out past the edge of the housing? Also, how does it mount? I am planing to use it for a ceiling mounted case holding a flip down tv in an Rv.

To install the handle will require you to drill holes along the lip of the door latch.

I went out to our warehouse to get the dimension you are looking for and found that when the latch is pulled up it will stick up 1 inch above the housing.

There is an indention in the bracket over the latch on the "Junior" Non-Locking Steel Flush Door Latch #N1980 which keeps it from falling out. I have pointed this out in the attached photo.
