Is Curt Trailer Hitch # CU29FR a Good Fit for a 2018 Chevy Traverse

Question:

I see that reviewers Jonathan on 3/10/18 and Javier on 1/5/18 both had fitment issues and had to modify this hitch in order to get it to fit. Can you advise if the manufacturer is aware of these problems and what if any measures they have taken to correct the problem? I really want to order one for my 2018 Traverse but don’t want to have any problems installing it. Thanks!

There actually isn't a problem with the hitch, # CU29FR, for the 2018 Chevy Traverse. We have had so many more people have no problems at all than those that did so I think I can explain what happened in those 2 issues.

While I can't say why the one customer had such a hard time removing the fascia but as far as the alignment issue that was mentioned there is a simple explanation. Basically, hitches can flex. And when they get tossed around in the shipping process it can cause the holes to not line up. The hitch can be flexed back though by using an open step or bench vise; basically, anything that can apply controlled force to the hitch.

We have 2 hitch options for this vehicle, the Curt CU29FR and the etrailer # e56YR, which you could take a look at. They all show an install difficulty level of 10 out of 10, but I included an install video for each of them for you to consider.

For either of these hitches if you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring you can add a 4-Way flat using # 118761 or a 7-Way using # 118287.
