Can Different Load Range Tires be Used on Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

I have a dual axle bass boat trailer rated for 5000 pounds. My front axel tires were worn so I replaced with tires requiring max 65 psi. My rear tires are same size but rated max 50psi and still in good shape . Is this an issue ?

Expert Reply:

Most likely the PSI difference between your axles is that you have a higher Load Range tire on the front axle now than what you have on the rear axle. Ideally you are running the same Load Range on all wheels of your trailer but in your situation you should be fine. Just be sure you run the max PSI for all tires listed on them at all times and you'll be good.
