Solution for Fifth Wheel Hitch that Allows Short Bed Truck to Have Turning Clearance

2500 ram slv short bed Hitch is Reese 16k It seems like I keep jackknifing can you tell me the correct placement for my hitch maybe its to close in the bed thank you

For proper weight distribution the fifth wheel hitch needs to be installed via the rail kit so that the jaws of the hitch are right above the rear axle center. Since you have a short bed what you need is a slider hitch that will allow you to slide the hitch back when you make tight turns so that you have the needed clearance.

For a 16k Reese Hitch we have the part # RP30051 which would be similar to what you have except has a slider base instead. Check out the review video for this hitch that I attached as well.
