Recommended Lug Nut Torque Specs for Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly
Question:
I have a 1998 Jayco eagle 10 ud. The stock idler hub uses lug bolts. I putting on brakes and this drum hub, which uses studs and lug nuts. What torque should i use on these lug nuts? The same as my user manual says for the Jayco trailer’s stock lug bolts?

Expert Reply:
When installing the lug nuts on the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-173-16UC3-EZ you should follow lug nut torque specs and not lug bolt torque specs. For this assembly you will want to torque the lug nuts between 75 and 85 foot lbs according to the attached spec sheet.
You will also want to use the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly - 7" - Left Hand # 23-47 and Right Hand # 23-48. Along with these, I recommend the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # HS381-9000 and ring terminals # 44-5310A. Then I recommend running # 10-1-1 wire from each brake assembly to the junction box and use # DW05745-5 for your connectors to the brake magnet wires.
Let me know if you have further questions.
