Should Tow Vehicle and Trailer be Level for Towing  

Question:

Should the truck and trailer be level the rear of my 27 foot trailer is low I can the ball one bolt hole down. Should the whole rig be level ?

Yes. When you are towing you want both your tow vehicle and trailer to be level.

To help you achieve this it is best to make sure that you have the correct ball mount for your application. I have attached a helpful article that goes over how to do so. A lot of people like to use an adjustable ball mount, like the popular Weigh Safe 180 # LTB8-25 to make it a little easier.

Another thing to help keep your trailer level is making sure that your Tongue Weight (TW) is 10-15% of the weight of your loaded trailer. You can use the etrailer Trailer Tongue Weight Scale # e99044 to help you find your TW or you can use a method highlighted in the accompanying helpful article on tongue weight.
