Comparing Curt A25 and B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitches for 2020 GMC Sierra 3500

Question:

Hi. I have a new 2020 GMC Sierra, 3500 long bed. It has the puck system and I'm looking for the best hitch - down to the Curt A25 and the B&W Companion 25K. Is there one you would recommend over the other?? Thanks!

This is a great question. The B&W OEM Companion # BWRVK3715 and the Curt A25 # C24FR for the factory pucks on your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 (congrats on the new truck, by the way!) represent the very peak of fixed 5th wheel hitches on the market.

Between the two options though I do recommend the B&W Companion # BWRVK3715 and I will go over my reasoning below.

Both hitches feature a dual jaw design that's built to provide a really secure connection with the trailer as well as a smooth ride during travel. The B&W Companion though, instead of the interlocking system that Curt has, uses thicker 1" jaws that just do a better job of completely surrounding the king pin to eliminate any movement at the connection point. This creates an even smoother ride without any rattle/noise coming from behind you on the road.

The B&W Companion also has a unique cam-action latching handle that's well-known for allowing a simple release of the hitch, even when you're on unlevel ground. If you've ever arrived at a campsite with a 5th wheel trailer before you know exactly how frustrating a binding handle can be. The legs on the Companion also offer an easier attachment to the pucks on your Sierra than any other 5th wheel hitch, including the Curt A25.

Lastly, the B&W Companion is made right here in the USA. It features a robust gray powder coated steel construction that's absolutely built to last and there's no reason this shouldn't be the last hitch you purchase. I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
