No, the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM11141845 includes a taillight converter that will combine your separate stop and turn signals into the single-wire format used on trailers. Your Highlander does not need to have one too.
The small packet included in the kit contains dielectric grease like # 11755. This grease is to be applied to all connectors in the kit at the time of installation. The grease does not conduct electricity but it acts as a physical barrier to water, extreme humidity and dirt than can over time degrade the connections. Apply the grease before you join the connectors.
