Best Ladder Rack and Tonneau Cover to Carry a Canoe with a 2016 Ford F-150 5-1/2 Bed

Question:

I need a roof rack to carry a 14’ Mad River canoe on a 2016 Ford F-150 Supercrew shortbed pickup without management system. Canoe weighs about 60 pounds. The receiver hitch is unavailable b/c we pull a camp trailer. We typically have a couple of bicycles draped over the tailgate, too. No shell on the pickup bed but we plan on installing a taneau cover someday if we can find something compatible. Your ideas?

We do have a combination of a locking tonneau cover and ladder rack that is compatible with your 2016 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot bed without the cargo management system.

This combination includes the TracRac SR # TH43002XT-508, part # TH43002XT-508EX for the Over-the-Cab extension, and the BAK Revolver X2 # BAK39329. Both of these are my favorites to recommend to customers. There are not very many ladder rack and tonneau cover combinations that are available in the first place, but even bought separately these 2 products are top of the line in their categories.

The TracRac SR boasts an impressive 1,250 lb weight capacity which will easily be able to carry your canoe and just about anything else that you need to transport. This ladder rack also features sliding rails which come in handy when carrying smaller items or simply making some extra room in the front or back of your truck bed.

Since the BAK Revolver X2 came out it has been very popular due to how sleek it looks and the security it provides. This cover actually rolls up like a soft tonneau cover but also has aircraft-grade rustproof aluminum rails that can actually hold up to 400 lbs of evenly distributed weight. The built-in latches mean that nobody can just rip the cover off like what can happen with traditional soft covers. If the cover is closed and your tailgate is shut and locked somebody would literally have to break in your truck bed to get at anything.

I have attached some review videos for both products so you can see all of the features in action.
