Recommendation for Best Tire For A Covered Trailer
Question:
Which is better...D rated tires or Radial Tires for a covered trailer?

The best tire for your covered trailer is one that fits your wheels, handles your weight capacity, and functions at the best speed possible. When it comes to trailer tires, there are two choices: bias or radial. Generally speaking, I recommend radial tires unless you need tires for off-road or agricultural use.
Because of the construction of a radial tire, the tire has more flex, will allow for more ground contact, and has better stability. A bias tire has a stiffer sidewall and shoulder which makes it great for off-road situations and runs "hotter" than a radial which means the radial will last longer.
For example, the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire-Load Range C, Item # TTWTRTM2057515C, has a maximum weight capacity of 1,820-lbs at 50 psi. It fits 15 inch wheels and has a maximum speed of 81 mph. It is a great all-purpose tire and is especially good for highway travel.
In contrast, a similar bias tire with all the same capacities is the Loadstar ST205/75D15 Bias Trailer tire-Load Range C, Item # AM1ST92. It basically does everything that the Provider radial tire does but is better suited for off-road or rougher road situations.
If you send me more details about your trailer like tire size, bolt pattern, and axle capacity then I can send you a specific recommendation. In the meantime, I have attached some of our help articles and videos for you to check out.
