Recommendation For Flat Towing a 2005 PT Cruiser Behind An RV
Question:
I am looking at a 2005 PT Cruiser and would like to know the parts I would need to be able to tow it behind my Motor Home. I would need the tow bar base plate for the car and lighting system If I am missing anything please let me know what I would need.

The items needed to tow your 2005 PT Cruiser will include base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, wiring, a braking system, and maybe a high-low hitch adapter.
For your 2005 PT Cruiser, I recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Item # 278-1 because it is designed for your vehicle. It also has twistlock brackets that are virtually invisible and can be removed.
The Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar, Item # RM-522, is a great choice that fits the Roadmaster XL Base Plate. You will also need safety cables like Item # RM-643.
A good one time set-up lighting kit for your PT Cruiser is the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-15267 that will use your vehicle's tail lights and also includes 7-wire to 6-wire coiled electrical cord.
If you want to keep the lighting systems for your RV and PT Cruiser separate then you will need a Wiring Converter like Item # 118158 and two additional diodes like Item # RM-792. The "separate" option uses your vehicle's brake and turn signals instead of only a combined lighting system connected to the RV. Lights and brakes will work either way and your vehicle will still function as designed when not hooked up to your RV.
For braking, I recommend the SMI Stay-In-Play Braking System, Item # SM99251. It is a great proportional braking system that has a convenient one time set-up.
Finally, a high-low hitch adapter may also be needed to keep your vehicle fairly level while being flat towed. A "safe zone" of 3 inches above or 3 inches below level must be maintained while towing a vehicle. High-low adapters provide necessary rise or drop to get into the "safe zone". I have attached a link to our available selections.
Before towing your 2005 PT Cruiser, check your vehicle owner's manual for suggestions and recommendations.

I have a Demco toe bar and a 2005 pt cruiser. If I put a road master base plate on, is there an adapter to hook up the two?
