Recommended Trailer Towing Kit for a 2005 Nissan Xterra
Question:
I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra and am looking to buty a tow kit/hitch. Im buying a 1999 Coleman Westlake Pop Up Camper. The camper is easily within the towing capabilities but I want to buy the right kit. What would you suggest?

I do have everything you'll need to tow a trailer with your 2005 Nissan Xterra (trailer hitch, wiring harness, ball mount/hitch ball) but we currently do not have an all inclusive kit. For a trailer hitch confirmed to fit your vehicle, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75291 which is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver tube opening. As you can see in the installation video I have attached for you, the hitch is very simple to install.
Then for a trailer wiring harness, I recommend the Curt Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C56225 for a 4-way trailer connector. Both of the above harnesses are completely plug and play kits with everything needed for installation including the relays to activate the tow package. We have installation videos on both harnesses which I have also attached for you.
In order to choose the correct ball mount for your Xterra you will first need to do a bit of measuring to find the correct rise/drop needed to keep your trailer level. To find this you will need to measure the distance from the ground to the top of the inside edge of your vehicle's trailer hitch and subtract that from the distance to the ground to the bottom of the coupler on your travel while level. You can see this process outlined in the attached ball mount help article.
