Does a Factory Installed 7-Way on a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Require a Fuse or Relay to Activate
Question:
I was curious if the charging wire on a factory installed 7 way harness for a 2007 Grand Cherokee Diesel was hot and ready to go or if theres a fuse I should put in like my chevy?

Expert Reply:
If your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee came with a factory installed 7-Way wiring harness, it probably does have the 12-volt wire already attached and ready for use. You can check the pin on the 7-Way in the 1 oclock position if facing the connector. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check for voltage. On some vehicles you will need to have the key on, or the vehicle started.
If you find that it does not show voltage, it could be that there is a fuse or relay that needs to be installed. You will need to check your vehicle owner's manual to determine where the tow package fuses/relays are located and check them.
