Recommended Hitch for 2015 Volkswagen Touareg
Question:
Hi, I have a Jayco Silverline outback with Alco and JTech independent suspension. I am looking at buying a 2015 VW Toureg to tow with. At present it does not have a tow bar fitted. What would you recommend to suit pulling my caravan and will the ball weight be ok. Im new to this so please bear with me!! Look forwad to your assistance. Regards

The hitch receiver I recommend for a 2015 Volkswagen Touareg is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75950 which has a towing capacity of 7,500 lbs and a tongue weight (or tow ball weight in some countries) capacity of 750 lbs. Based on my research, those weight capacities will work with a Jayco Silverline.
I also recommend using a brake controller if you do not have one, such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195; and the appropriate wiring should the vehicle not already be wired with a 7-way. You will also need to choose the correct ball mount but will need to take a couple quick measurements first.
To do, so park the Touareg and Silver line on level ground and begin by measuring from the top of the Touareg's receiver opening to the ground. After that you'll want to measure from the bottom of the Silverline's coupler to the ground. If the height of your hitch is greater you'll need a ball mount with that amount of drop. Should the height of your coupler be greater, you will need a ball mount with that amount of rise. I've added a link to our page with each of our ball mounts, as well as a help article on ball mounts for you to take a look at.
