Comparing the Draw-Tite # 75912 and Curt # C13193 Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Ford Transit T250
Question:
We are ordering a trailer hitch today and trying to decide between the two below which is best for us. We dont know what a DrawTite is on this one: Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 Item # 75912 Heres the other one we are considering: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 Item # C13193 The pull weight of 5,000 or 6,000 lbs. is fine. So either will work that way. Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75912 and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13193 are similar trailer hitches as they are both Class III with a 2 inch receiver opening (Draw-Tite is a manufacturer name).
For your towing application I recommend going with the Curt option since it has a 900 lb Tongue Weight (TW) rating and a 6,000 lb Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating. This is higher than the 750 lb TW and 5,000 lb GTW rating on the Draw-Tite option.
Even though you will only be pulling 5,000 lbs - 6,000 lbs it never hurts to get a trailer hitch that is rated for more weight, especially when it is at the same price point as the lower rated trailer hitch.
To complete your towing setup you will also need a ball mount, hitch ball, and trailer wiring. I recommend going with the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball - 2" Drop # C45036 as it is a very popular option, but you will want to verify that this has the correct ball mount for your application using the linked helpful article.
For a trailer with a 4-Way flat connector I recommend using the Curt T-Connector # C56327, but since you have a heavier trailer, you may need wiring that has a 7-Way connector. If this is the case, then I recommend the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter # 22114. It gives you everything that you need for a fully functioning 7-Way and even provides a connector for a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. You will need a brake controller to activate the brakes on your trailer, should they be equipped.
Either way you can use the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18140 for the 4-Way Mounting Bracket # 18144 or 7-Way Mounting Bracket # 18138.
I have attached some videos and installation instructions that you can reference as well.
