I did some research and it looks like most Haulmark trailers like yours have a 3,500-lb single axle. If you have different axles then let me know and I can make the correct recommendation.

Your axle must have brake mounting flanges attached behind the existing hub assembly on each side for brakes. If there are no brake mounting flanges then you will either have to replace your axle or purchase brake mounting flanges that can be welded to your axle by a qualified welder.

A common setup for 3,500-lb axle with #84 spindles uses Item # L68149 inner bearings and Item # L44649 outer bearings that has 10 inch hub-and-drum with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. If this matches your trailer then I recommend Trailer Hub And Drum Assembly Item  # AKHD-545-35-k  which is compatible with electric or hydraulic brakes.

Electric brakes, while good, do not provide as strong a stopping power for your trailer as hydraulic brakes. Hydraulic brakes do not have electrical parts so they handle water better. Hydraulic brakes can cost more to install but provide an overall more safe and secure braking system.

If you choose to go with electric brakes then I recommend Electric Trailer Brake Kit Item # AKEBRK-35 . If you do not have a 7-Way connecter on your trailer then you will need one and Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit Item # HS381-9000 has most of the components. You will also have to run wire to your brakes which can be done with Item # 10-2-1. You will also need a brake controller and I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Item # 90195. Finally, you will need a trailer breakaway kit and I recommend the Tekonsha Trailer Breakaway Kit Item # 50-85-313.

If you choose to go with hydraulic brakes then you will have a different setup. I recommend Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit Item # AKUBRK-35. With hydraulic brakes, you need a brake actuator as well as a brake line kit. I recommend the Dexter Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator Item # 099-175-00 and the Titan Brake Lines and Fittings Item # T4829900 for single-axles.

As you add your brakes, make sure to get the right components for your needs and your trailer. Again, I am glad to make correct recommendations if you send me more details about your trailer.
