Why Do Trailer Hitches for 2006 Ford Explorer Require Leaving on Factory Hitch
Question:
Is there a trailer hitch that replaces the factory hitch and not just bolts under it ? One that I would have to remove the factory hitch, to install ?

For your 2006 Ford Explorer the hitches we offer for your vehicle all require the factory hitch to be left on. The reason is that your factory hitch is part of the rear bumper so it has to remain installed. The Draw Tite hitch part # 75437 would fit your Explorer well and would be a great option.
