How Far is Receiver From Ground on 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix?
Question:
How far down will the 1.25 inch receiver from a 36241 hitch hang down on an 02 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.8L? Looking at model 36241 to mount on my GTP. I have a small hill to go down then a short lip to go up to get into my garage. I need to know how high the BOTTOM of the receiver is AFTER it is mounted. It looks like about 9 inch from the top of the receiver. Not sure how thick the top and bottom of the receiver are. I dont want to mount it then scrape the driveway getting into my garage. Or worse yet, get in without scraping and be stuck in when back out UP the hill. Also, are there any custom mounts that could be mounted higher up? not below the aesthetic plastic skirting that says Pontiac? Thanks in advance.

Your concerns about scraping the ground are certainly understandable, so I'm happy to help you out. The Curt # C12225 is going to be approximately 7-1/2 inches from the bottom of the receiver tube to the ground on your 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. In regard to custom mounts, that's essentially what these hitches are, having been designed specifically for makes, models and years of certain vehicles. There would not be any type of custom hitch specifically made to make the receiver higher.
