I am looking for a 3 inch recover hitch for my 2000 dodge 2wd 8 foot bed. That can safely pull 20k

We don't have any 3 inch trailer hitch receivers. Those only come with the newer large trucks as a factory option, but there aren't many ball mounts that are made to fit them at this time. All of the aftermarket manufacturers stick with the 2-1/2 inch receiver opening for even the largest towing capacities.

For your 2000 Dodge Ram, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" # DT45513 is a confirmed fit. This however does not have the largest rated towing capacity (at 14,000 lbs when used with weight distribution) for your truck. That honor goes to the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - Dual 2" Receivers # TLD1100 with a 20000 lb towing capacity when used with weight distribution.

You will want to check your owners manual for the towing ability of your specific truck and transmission combination to ensure you can pull that 20K.
