The Curt Class III Receiver Hitch # 13424 referenced in your question, which is confirmed to fit your 2017 Chevy Traverse, does require that the fascia door panel be removed during installation. Once the trailer hitch is installed, it is unlikely that you will be able to reattach the fascia panel. I have included an installation video on this vehicle that you can use for reference. This is a very nice, Class III hitch that will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening and has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Based on my research, your Traverse has a towing capacity of between 2,000 and 5,000 pounds, depending on the model. I recommend checking your owner's manual for this information as you will need to stay below whichever capacity is lower, the vehicle or the hitch.

Then for a wiring harness that is custom-fit for your Traverse that does not have the towing package, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118270. This will connect to existing ports under the vehicle, on the passenger side, and will install a 4-Way connector at the rear of the Traverse for connection with your trailer.

I have again attached an installation video that you can use for reference.

Lastly, in order to tow a trailer you will need a ball mount. I recommend looking at the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit includes 2 different ball mounts, one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and another with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop, along with a 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch hitch ball. If the ball mounts in this kit do not feature the needed rise or drop to tow your trailer level, check out the attached article that will help you measure for the correct ball mount and a link that will take you to our available selection.
