The Curt hitches part # C13127 and # C13315 are both a fit for your 2016 Mazda CX-5 whether it's the mid year update or the older style 2016 model. At first one hitch was designed to fit the newer and older model but then the figured out they both fit both models.

So essentially you have two similar hitches that install differently for the same vehicle with slightly different capacities.

The part # C13315 has the higher capacities at 600 lbs tongue weight and 4k total trailer weight and the par t# C13127 has capacities of 525 lbs tongue weight and 3500 lbs total trailer weight.

Due to the higher capacities I would go with the part # C13315.

I purchased a 13127 hitch for my wifes 2013 mazda cx5 based on info from a hitch site. It does not fit. Seems I need a 13315. I now need to resell the 13127 hitch. Can you tell me what vehicles it would actually fit so I can advertise it properly? Thank you.

The Curt 13127 should actually be a good fit for your 2013 Mazda CX-5. We installed it on this very vehicle before it was replaced with the Curt # C13315 you also mentioned. Did you try mounting it? If so, was it not lining up with the frame rails or was there another issue?
