Installing the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller on a 2011 GMC 3500 DRW Denali with Factory Brake Control
Question:
The P/U has a factory installed, dash located, brake control. However, the brake control is for electric brakes only. Therefore, will the P3 replace the factory unit and is there a facia cover for creating a factory looking installation ?

We have tech bulletin online, see link, that explains in detail how to install a aftermarket brake control, like the Prodigy P3, item # 90195, on the Chevrolet and GMC pickups with factory integrated brake control.
You will not remove the factory controller from the dash so there is no way to install the P3 in the dash and at this time there is not a fascia cover available for the installing the P3 in this location. If the factory brake controller was removed you would get a trailer brake display message showing on the driver information center.
Following the directions in the tech bulletin will not result in a trailer brake display message showing on the driver information center.
To complete the installation of an aftermarket brake controller you will need a length of blue wire, item # 10-1-1, to run from the blue wire on the aftermarket brake controller back to the blue wire at the factory 7-Way and splice it in, after severing the blue wire that comes from from the factory integrated brake controller.
