Does Exhaust have to be Lowered or Bed Raised on 2001 Ford F-250 to Install Curt Gooseneck Hitch
Question:
We have a 2001 Ford F250 7.3L with an eight foot truck bed. Does this part require for the exhaust to be altered or lowered at any part of this installation? Also, will be truck bed need to be loosened or removed to fit the cross brackets? Thanks,

For Curt Double Lock, Flip and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch w/Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs Item # C60720 the exhaust does not have to be lowered on a 2001 Ford F-250 diesel for installation.
On 2004 and older trucks, the emergency brake cable located on the outside of the driver's side frame will need to be relocated. Knock the mounting stud out of the frame with a hammer and punch and discard. A 5/16" relocating bolt is included in the kit and will be installed after the sideplates are installed.
The bed does not have to be raised but some truck models will allow the crossarms to slide between the frame and bed without modification. If this is not possible, cut a small notch in the flange on driver's side of the truck.
I have included some links to the instructions and a video showing an example installation. The video is on a newer model and will not be exactly the same as an installation on a 2001 but the video is still a good guide.
