How to Determine if 89 inch 3,500 Dexter Axle # T3584F-EZ-8974 Will Work on Flat Bed Trailer
Question:
I have a flat bed trailer with tandem axles. It presently has motor home type wheels/hubs, which seem to be narrower than standard tires. Id like to replace the axles, to be able to use standard rims. My spring center is 74, total trailer width between tires is 75.25. Would a standard 89inch axle measured to hub face be a direct replacment when using standard tires and rims and not mobile home rims? As well, the trailer is 8000lb Gross Weight on the title. Im guessing a pair of 3500 lb axles is not good enough? But I dont see anything heavier on your site...

Since your spring seats are 74 inches apart on center the part # T3584F-EZ-8974 will bolt up easily. The hub face to hub face dimension is 89 inches like you mentioned. Basically this will be exactly where the tire's center will be. So you might measure between the tire centers to find out where the wheels would end up if you went with this axle.
If you had two of these you'd have a 7k axle capacity. If that's adequate then this would work well. If you need more, or the dimensions mentioned above don't match, then you'd need to look into ordering a custom axle from a local trailer shop as we only carry a select few axles at this time.
