What is Necessary to Tow a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Behind a Motor Home

Question:

I would like to pull my 1998 Jeep wrangler behind my 2007 Fleet Wood motor home, with my jeep lights plugged in. I'm using a flat 4 connector, will this Block diode work, or will I need more than one? And how would I wire it in?

Expert Reply:

The Hopkins Quick-Lock Diode, # HM56306, likely won't be very beneficial; if you are already using a wiring harness on your 1998 Jeep Wrangler, I recommend a higher power diode, Roadmaster # RM-790, because it will be able to handle more amps. Please refer to the attached picture for reference on how it is wired.

If you do need a wiring harness, and plan on flat-towing your 1998 Jeep Wrangler with some regularity, I recommend using the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, # RM-155, which bypasses your Jeep's electrical system; to see how it's installed you can take a look at the video I've linked.

If you are not going to tow your Jeep very often, I recommend going with the Magnetic Tow Lights, # TL21RK, which uses a four-pole flat connector to hook up to your RV's connector. I've also included a link to a video review on this product for you.
