Installing a Redarc Brake Controller in the Rear of a 2017 BMW X5

Question:

I plan to install the control knob in the center console as shown in the BMW X3 installation photo in the in use/installed photos on this product’s page. The main unit will be mounted in the rear cargo area near the vehicle’s main fuse box. My question is: what is the best way for me to run the 13 foot optional RED58FR cable from the main unit in the rear to the control knob in the center console? In other words, what is the best path to take? Will seats and/or side panels need to be removed? Do you have any photos or videos that might be helpful? Thank you

Though I can confirm the Redarc # RED44FR will work with your vehicle, we do not have a video of it being mounted the in way you are. That being said, you could do this either way. From looking at photos of the interior of a 2017 BMW X5, to run the Redarc Extension # RED58FR directly from the fuse box in the rear of the vehicle up to the center console, you will most likely need to remove the rear seats and lift part of the carpet. This would end up being the most direct way to do it though.

If you wanted to go the less direct route, you could follow the left side of the vehicle up from the fuse box. This would require the kick panels to be removed so the wire can be run up to the dash. From there you would need to cross the dash to get it to the center console. The only problem with this is if the 13 feet will cover the distance. You will want to measure from the spot you will mount the # RED44FR to the side wall. Then you will need to measure from that point up to the point where you would cross the dash. Finally, from there to where you will mount it in the center console. If it's less than 13 feet, you will be good to run it this way.
