Can Electric Over Hydraulic Actuators be Submerged Under Water on a Boat Trailer
Question:
Hi, I have a tandem boat trailer with surge disc brakes on the rear axle. Some ramps I use are shallow and as a result, the only place on the trailer I would consider installing an electric over hydraulic controller, can be partially submerged. The controller would constantly be exposed to weather. I only boat in freshwater. Are there any concerns with the submersion?

Electric over hydraulic actuators are not meant to be submerged but your best option for protection against water is the HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HS381-8067. It looks like there is space forward of the winch post on your boat trailer so that is a good place to mount it.
One thing that will help to keep less of the trailer submerged is a longer ball mount such as # EA40 which is 14-5/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole.
