Will Curt Hitch Work With 2004 Audi A4 Avant Wagon on Steep Driveway?
Question:
Trying to see if the Curt trailer hitch will be too low for my steep driveway, what is the distance from the bottom of the tow hook on the car to the bottom of the tow bar? How far does it stick out from the back of the car?

The install video I have linked showing the Curt hitch # 11164 being installed on a 2003 Audi A4 shows that the hitch's crossbar fits above the tow hook. The exact dimensions are not available, but I went to the warehouse to take some measurements, and the hitch measures approximately 6-1/2 inches from the top to the bottom of the receiver, and 6 inches from the rear bolt hole to the front of the receiver.
I have also added two pictures that should be a helpful reference. As you can see, the receiver will be only slightly lower than the exhaust system, and protrudes minimally from the back of the A4.
Please keep in mind that you will need to use Curt's stabilizing straps, # 18050, with this hitch when using a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier in order to maintain the warranty.
