Both the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame # 75600 and the Curt Class III # 13077 Trailer Hitches that are custom-fit for your 2010 BMW X5 will require some fascia trimming during installation to allow for the receiver to fit properly. Between the two models, I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch because it will be a bit more hidden and unlike the Curt hitch, it does not require the use of stabilizing straps for non-trailer accessories such as bike racks and cargo carriers.

I have attached the written installation details as well as a video on the 2011 BMW X5 for you to check out.

If you plan on doing any towing, I recommend the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT to install a 4-way connector needed to power your trailer's signal lights. I have again attached an installation video on the 2013 and 2017 X5 for you to take a look at.

For a ball mount I recommend looking at the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit includes two ball mounts, one with a 3/4 inch rise and 2 inch drop and another with a 2-3/4 inch rise and 4 inch drop, as well as both a 2 inch and 1-7/8 inch hitch balls. If the ball mounts in this kit are not sufficient to tow your trailer level, I have included a link that will take you to our available selection of ball mounts and an article that will help you measure for the correct rise or drop needed.
