Can Equal-i-zer Head be Used with Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System
Question:
I purchased a fastway e2 wd hitch, 12000#, 2point sway control, for our TT. After several trips, and fighting wind Im thinking of upgrating to a 4point sway control. The hardware that attaches to the trailer seems to be the same. My question is can I just purchase a 4point sway control head? Also, reuse my trunnion bars? Wanting to make it like the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution - EQ37120ET, which is 12000# also. My bars are 34inch long x 1 3/8.

All weight distribution system parts, except for the shank component that fits into your tow vehicle's trailer hitch, are proprietary and brand-specific. You will not be able to use a different brand head like the Equal-i-zer # EQ90-02-1200 with your existing Fastway trunnion bars and other parts.
If you are still experiencing sway issues with your Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System # FA92-00-1200 installed, then there are a couple of things you can try that may help.
I first recommend checking to make sure the tongue weight of your trailer is about 10 to 15 percent of its gross weight. A tongue weight that is too light can definitely lead to sway issues. Simply adding more weight to the front of the trailer may help to improve this problem.
You can also try adding spacer washers to the rivets or raise the L-Brackets on your Fastway system to angle the head away from your tow vehicle and provide more tension on the spring bars.
I have attached the instruction details for this system for you to check out. There are some additional troubleshooting options listed on page 23 that you can check out.
