7-Way Trailer Connector Will Not Charge Dead Trailer Battery

Question:

When I picked my camper up from being serviced, the battery didnt have enough power to operate the power jack. I backed up closer so I could plug in the 7 round plug and still no power. I now on my 07 I had to connect leads on the fuse box and purchase a 40 amp fuse to make that work. I cant seem to find any information on the 2014 though. Id appreaaciate any help you can give me on this. Thanks.

Expert Reply:

If you are using the 7-way auxillary pin on your 7-way for your trailer battery, it will not provide enough current to charge the battery.

When hooked to the 7-way from your truck it will only maintain the charge on a battery. You will need to charge the battery on your trailer using a charger like part # CTEK56353. Once the trailer battery is charged, the truck will provide enough current to maintain the charge on the trailer battery.
