Spare Tire Bracket Relocation for Curt Class II Recevier on 2001 Ford Ranger
Question:
Will I still be able to use Spare Tire Mount with this Hitch Installed?

According to Curt Manufacturing, installing the Class II Receiver Hitch, part # 12012 will NOT require relocation of the spare tire bracket. Although not expressly mentioned in the instructions, temporarily lowering the spare tire can make the install a bit easier by providing easier access to the rear frame members that the hitch is attached to.
Might I make a suggestion? The Curt Class III Receiver, part # 13138 is actually a bit less expensive, has a higher tow and tongue weight rating and in my opinion, is better looking. As a practice, I always recommend a Class III receiver over a Class II. In addition to the higher capacity, a Class III receiver will offer you a greater selection of accessories, like a cargo carrier or bike rack. Curt states that this hitch will not require relocation of the spare tire bracket.
If you click on the provided link, you can review the installation instructions for both receiver hitches.
