Is the Thule T2 Pro XT Compatible With the Spare Tire on a 2004 Honda CR-V

Question:

Ive been looking at the measurements and Im trying to figure out if a Thule T2 Pro XT would fit on a 2004 Honda CRV. Im concerned about the tire attached to the outside of the trunk and the door opening to the side rather than up in the air. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

To find out if the Thule T2 Pro XTS # TH83JV will fit on your 2004 Honda CR-V with a spare tire you will need to measure from the center of you hitch pin hole to the edge of your bumper. If this measurement is less than 7 inches then the T2 Pro XTS will fit.

Since you have the swinging rear door instead of the one that lifts up you will not have full access to your rear cargo area with this bike rack installed. You might be able to partially open your rear door.

What I recommend doing is going with a swinging bike rack since it will allow you full access to the rear cargo area of your CR-V. If you are wanting to stick with the platform style we actually have a platform style swinging rack. The BackStage 2 Bike Rack # RKY10002 by RockyMounts is what you will want to go with. The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the bike rack is 8 inches. The only downside to this bike rack is that it weighs 75 lbs which can make it a bit difficult to handle.

The most important thing for you is to figure out what the measurement is from the center of your hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of your tire. If neither of these options are long enough you will need to use a Hitch Extender # HE06 along with an Anti-Rattle Device # 63232. Going this route will reduce the weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent.
