Is There a Version of Thule Apex Bike Rack that Will Allow Rear Door of 2004 Honda CR-V to Open

Question:

I have a 2004 Honda CRV and the rear door has a mounted tire and swings open to the right and not upward. Will the Thule Apex XT 4 bike hitch rack, Part #TH9025XT tilt low enough without bikes on it, to allow the rear door to swing completely open? Also is there enough spacing between the rack and the car to allow for the mounted wheel on the rear door? Thanks,

For complete truck area access on your 2004 Honda CR-V I do have a really great Thule Apex bike rack solution for you but the tilt of the # TH9025XT is not far enough to allow your rear door to completely open.

Instead you'd want the Thule Apex Swing part # TH9027XT which swings out completely to the passenger side of the vehicle to give you complete access to the rear cargo door. This rack also has the advantage of being able to swing out with bikes loaded whereas the tilting Apex can only tilt when unloaded. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out as well!

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
