Leaf Spring Recommendations for 3,500 lb Trailer Axles

Question:

I have a 2 axle trailer for a boat and the axle capacity on each one is 3500 pounds. Do I use 2000 pound springs as that totals 4000 pounds per axle or do I have to go higher?

Expert Reply:

Ideally you match the leaf spring's axle capacity with the axle capacity of the trailer. So since you have 3,500 lb axles you would want 3,500 lb axle leaf springs. Typically the springs are all rated for the capacity when used in a pair.

We have three that will fit that capacity that are varying lengths. We have the part # e54SR which is 25-1/8 inches long, # SP-210275 which is 27 inches long, and # e59SR which is 23-1/8 inches long.
