If you really liked the Dexter brakes and want to continue to use that brand I can help you find exactly what you are looking for. Otherwise, no, you do not have to replace the electric brakes on your trailer with the same Dexter brand.
The Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assemblies, part # K23-478-00 LH (driver side) and part # K23-479-00 RH (passenger side), from Dexter that you referenced are great options since you do not have to keep adjusting the brakes. These assemblies are 10 inches x 2-1/4 inches and together fit 4,400 lb axles.
If you wanted to go with a different brand, we have our etrailer.com Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA which includes both the left and right brake assemblies. These brakes have the same dimensions as the Dexter brakes, but they have a lower weight capacity at 3,500 lbs.
