Will the Ford Integrated Brake Controller on 2006 F-350 Work with Electric-Over-Hydraulic Brakes

Question:

I believe that my 2007 DRV Mobile Suites TK3 fifth wheel trailer has electric over hydraulic brakes. I have come to the realization that the Ford Integrated Controller is probably not activating the brakes on the fifth wheel properly and I am looking to correct the situation. Is the Carlisle HBA-CAM the solution to my problem? 2006 Ford F350 Integrated Brake Controller

According to the owners manual of the 2006 Ford F-350, the factory integrated brake controller has not been confirmed to work with electric-over-hydraulic brake actuators. The Carlisle Control Adapter Module, # HBA-CAM, will solve your problem as long as you have a Generation 6 or newer HydraStar actuator with the following serial numbers

HBA-10 serial number 313800 or higher
HBA-12 serial number 705700 or higher
HBA-16 serial number 506100 or higher

If you have an older HydraStar actuator or a different brand, then this adapter will not work. If this is the case, then I recommend installing an aftermarket brake controller that is compatible with electric-over-hydraulic brakes like the Prodigy P3, # 90195, and bypassing the factory brake controller. I have attached a help article that explains how to install a brake controller on your truck and the procedure required to bypass the factory brake controller without throwing fault codes.

Since your truck has the factory tow package, you will want the Tekonsha Brake Controller Wiring Adapter # 3065-P for an easier installation.
