Recommended Brake Controller And Wiring For 2012 Ford E-350 Van

Question:

2012 Ford E350 box van. Need brake control box and wiring for 7 way hook up. I think the # is 90885-3034P and the wire harness with 7 way is ETBT7. Is this correct. Is there anything else necessary? Thanks

If you have a factory 4-way trailer connector at the rear of your E-350 Van you can use the Prodigy P2 brake controller and plug-in adapter, # 90885 and # 3034-P. I have attached a photo that shows where you can plug the adapter into behind the dash.

You will then need part # 37185 to give you a working 7-way. You will need to run the brake wire from the brake controller to the plug using part # 10-1-1.

If you do not have a trailer connector on your van you will first need a 4-way trailer connector like part # 118551. You will then need part # ETBC7 to complete the installation. Since you will not have the plug-in harness under your dash you will not need the # 3034-P adapter. You will need to hardwire the brake controller as shown in the attached drawing.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.

I have also attached links to a couple of helpful articles that you can check out.
