Trailer Hitch Receiver and Bike Rack for 2017 Chevrolet Volt
Question:
Ive got a 2017 Volt, and want to have hitch mounted for bike rack. The Curt Class 1 Receiver Hitch sounds like what I would like, and work on Volt, but worried about trimming fascia. How much trimming is required? Thank you.

The Curt # C11436 is confirmed to fit your 2017 Chevrolet Volt. There isn't a lot of trimming to the fascia. A 3" inch by 5" inch rectangular hole will need to be cut into the underbody panel. See the picture I attached from the install instructions. You can see this on page 6 of the instructions that I attached for you and on the installation video to learn more.
For a hitch mounted bike rack, you're going to want something that is light so it doesn't take up all the weight your Volt will support. One suggestion is the Kuat Beta # B202-114 which only weighs 12.6 pounds but can carry up to 80 pounds. This is a hanging rack that will hold the bikes by the horizontal top cross tube. If you're going to be carrying a women's or children's bike that doesn't have that straight tube you may need an adapter bar like the Kuat Ubar Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01. This will create a way to carry the bikes level on the Beta.
