Wiring Harness For Brake Controller on a 2008 Chevy Silverdao 3500

Question:

My 08 Chevy 3500 pick up keeps throwing a service trailer brakes code I replaced all the parts and it still does it intermittently. Im looking for a brake controller that I can wire in its place I have been told by the dealer that this is not available to me and I have to replace the whole system.. I was thinking of using a prodigy brake controller like I have in my other pick ups but I dont see a wiring harness plug-in on the 08 to plug into. any light on this subject would be great or step-by-step instructions as well also part numbers so I can order stuff through you guys thank you.

I have a wiring harness for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 that is made by the same company that came out with the Prodigy P3 # 90195. Tekonsha has the Pigtail Wiring Harness # 7894 that you install under the driver's side of your dash. I have attached a help article that goes into detail on the wiring you will need to do.

When connecting your brake controller, these are the wire combinations that you will need to link together:

Red/Black to Black Battery Power
White to White Ground
Light Blue/White to Red Brake Light Signal
Drk Blue N/A Brake Control Output to Trailer
Orange N/A Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL)

You will have to use an appropriate length of 10 gauge wire, # 10-1-1, to run from the blue wire on your brake controller to the blue wire at the back of the 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your truck. This will bypass the factory brake controller.

To install a trailer wiring harness at the back of your Chevy, I recommend using the Pollak 7-Pole # PK11898. This also includes a mounting bracket for easy installation under your bumper.

I have included some demonstration videos for each of the parts that I've listed and I attached some helpful links for you as well.
